Psalm 62 -NIV

Pt 1. Be Specific

How long will you gang up on me? How long will you run with the bullies? There’s

nothing to you, any of you—rotten floorboards, worm-eaten rafters, Anthills plotting to

bring down mountains, far gone in make-believe. You talk a good line, but every

“blessing” breathes a curse. (Message Translation Psalm 62:3-4)

Matthew 20:30-34 “Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard

that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”31 The

crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord,

Son of David, have mercy on us!”32 Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want

me to do for you?” he asked.33 “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.”34 Jesus had

compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and

followed him.”

Pt 2. Focus on God, not outcome

Dummiyah → Silence

Dommi → Be Still

Pt 3. Consistency is Key

1. Fend off Distraction

Colossians 2:8 8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and

deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual

forces[a] of this world rather than on Christ.

2. Solidifies Confidence

3. Understands God More

i. Hebrews 11:3 3 By faith we understand that the universe was

formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out

of what was visible.

4. Tongues have Power

ii. Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death,

and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Pt 4 Center On Truth

1. In the face of attack ….declare rest in God

2. When pressure surrounds us….declare rest in God

a. 2 Corinthians 4:8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed;

perplexed, but not in despair

3. When we feel defeated….Declare rest in God

a. James 1:12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because,

having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the

Lord has promised to those who love him.
