How do you build your life on Christ? Faith & Time

  • Faith: Faith is forward movement/actions “leaning your entire weight upon” Jesus, instead of sitting down and quitting. We gain spiritual strength in spiritual movement. 

  • Time: Time adds personal experience with the presence

Dig Deep, Anchor Down & Practice On

Luke 6:46-49 (NIV) 46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

What do we all have to dig through? Past practices and current trends. 

What is going to keep you “steady”? God gave His life to break us free of our past and to secure our future.

What do we practice on? His word and ways. 

Practice is an activity that moves information to understanding. Ooohs! come through learning. Ahahs! come through practice.

James 1:22 (NIV) 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 

Trust God more than Yourself and Your Circumstances

Proverbs 3:5-8 (NIV) Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

  • To TRUST means to put your confidence in. 

  • To SUBMIT, is to place yourself under the person you trust. 

  • The result will be a straight path – a smoothed out way. 

James 1:19 (NIV) “Be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” 

Trade Worry for Prayer

Philippians 4:6-9 (NIV) Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

We are to pray not from a place of fear (tanking) but from a place of thanksgiving. Thanksgiving for what? For a God who is ever present and ever powerful! 

A rock-solid future rest on… 

  • More Word. More Practice. 

  • More Trust. More Movement. 

  • More Prayer. More Presence.
