Exodus 2

The Truth About Truth & Lies

  • The origin of lies is Satan.

  • The intent of a lie is to control and destroy.

  • The power of lie is in what we do with it.

  • The origin of truth is in the reality of Jesus.

  • The intent of truth is freedom and life.

  • The power of truth is found in following Him.

All lies flow from 2 core lies: God is not enough and I am not enough.

  • Lessons were taught with urgency so I would take them seriously.

  • Lessons were repeated because you can’t learn everything in one pass.

  • Lessons were practiced with hands on experience.

Why? Because if you are prepared, you don’t panic.

You are stuck isn’t the real lie – you might be stuck. The real lie is, “This is hopeless, nothing is ever going to change.”

The Tools for UnStuck

  • Embrace the moment you’re in.

  • Live with hope where you are.

  • Move in faith when God draws you out.

If you are looking for the most efficient, safest and shortest way between points A & B you are going to miss a lot of God shaping moments.

Moses means to be “drawn out of the water”. Do you see the irony? Satan wants to drown us but God wants to draw us!

Every “I am stuck” lie finds its root in identity: A misunderstood identity, forgotten identity or a never learned identity.

#1 Embrace the moment you are in.

Exodus 2:21,22 (NIV) 21 Moses agreed to stay with the man, who gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses in marriage. 22 Zipporah gave birth to a son, and Moses named him Gershom, saying, “I have become a foreigner in a foreign land.”

You will stay stuck if you don’t embrace the moment you are in and trust your Father in heaven. Your moment isn’t your identity. Your identity is your identity.

Tools for Unstuck: #2 Live with Hope where you are.

Exodus 3:1 (NIV) Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

Exodus 3:2-4 (NIV) There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.”When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.”

Hope isn’t wishful thinking, it is complete confidence in the person of Jesus. Our Hope is always in a person not an outcome. Outcomes will let you down, Jesus never will!

Tools for Unstuck: #3 When God draws you out, move in faith, not fear.

Exodus 3:10-15 (NIV) 10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” 11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” 12 And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.” 13 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” 14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’” 15 God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ “This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation.

“I Am” comes from the Hebrew verb, “to be or to exist.”

God declared that He is self-existent, eternal, self-sufficient, self-directed and unchanging.

Satan wants stuck to sink us. God uses stuck to send us!

1. Embrace the moment you are in.

2. Live with hope where you are.

3. When God draws you out move in faith and not fear.
