Seeds: Every Family Tree Begins Somewhere

Seeds: Every Family Tree Begins Somewhere

Pastor Charlie Weir

Your family heritage matters: it informs, it influences but it doesn’t determine. Your forward-thinking decisions, choices and actions determine the health and growth of your family tree… regardless of your heritage.

Genesis 1:28-29 (NIV) “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” 29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.

The Wow!

Everything that God gave life to, He also gave the ability to reproduce life… through seeds.

Every seed carries life from a divine origin with a holy capacity!

·      Holy means consecrated, sacred, set apart for God.

·      Holy doesn’t mean without flaws, holy means offered to God.  God is the who cleansing/sanctifies to make sacred.

·      Our origin is divine because we were created by God.

·      Our capacity is holy because that was our original seed.

·      The seed of doubt has demonic origins (not divine), unholy capacity (not holy) and destructive intentions, (not life). The seed Satan planted/plants is the seed of doubt.

·      Doubt is like erosion as it has the ability to wash seeds away before they take root and if doubt is persistent enough it can also wash away the soil where roots anchor.

Each of us have zero input on where we come from and what has been done to us but we have 100% input on where we are going and how we are going to get there. We all don’t share the same challenges but we all have the same access to the life-changing, life-giving power of Christ.

A lot has happened since Genesis and a lot of life has already happened to you.

·      You can’t change your family history but you can change your family heritage.

·      You might not be able to change where you are but you can change the composition of the soil around you.

·      You can’t change your roots but you can put down a supporting root structure.

Conclusion

·      Seeds have to be cared for, soil cultivated and weeds have to be consistently culled.

·      The sobering news is that you hold responsibility for your seed, your seeds, your roots and your family tree.

·      The good news is that every seed can be redeemed and every tree can be restored back to health, strength and longevity.
